And now - The 2007 Mini Schnauzer Yearbook!!! - - Q & A

Home The MINI Magazine Health & Nutrition Forum Rescue Clubs Mini Moments BIS/Groups Contact

Question: What is the Mini Schnauzer Yearbook?

Answer: Similar in concept to a high school annual, the upcoming MS Yearbook will chronicle the year 2007 - documenting top dogs, outstanding achievements, every event which sees participation by MS, records, news affecting the breed, anecdotes, special club activities, and the best of the best Mini Moments photos from The MINI Magazine's 2007 collection of submissions. This will be our third yearbook publication after having had tremendous success with the first two books - and the CD-ROM of last year's publication (which is the ONLY version still available - all print copies have been sold out).

Question: What is the theme of this year's book?

Answer: The theme of the 2007 yearbook is "Schnauzer Spirit!"

Question: I've heard you give away free pages. Does my dog qualify for a free page in the yearbook?

Answer: Since the advertising is what pays for the publication of the book, we have learned that we can't give away a lot of pages and still have a quality production. However, yes, for very special wins, we do still offer some free full pages. Please read the information in the box below. If you still have questions, please click to contact the publisher.

PLEASE NOTE: YOU ARE LIMITED TO ONE FREE PAGE PER DOG
AND NO MORE THAN TWO FREE PAGES PER KENNEL.

Question: Do "Top Dogs" get a feature page?

Answer: Yes, the #1 conformation dog, #1 agility MS, and #1 obedience MS certainly will get space. We would also like to feature the #1 MS Earthdog and #1 in any other event but those people may have to let us know. Sometimes it's hard to find out about these things on time.

Question: What if my club had a special event this year that we would like you to include?

Answer: Articles submitted regarding breed-impacting events will be included free of charge. If your club celebrated a landmark anniversary; if a member of your club was recognized for special achievement; if a dog in your club did something no other dog has done - PLEASE do contact me and let's get it in the book! If you are still in doubt, please e-mail.

Question: What are the dimensions of the yearbook?

Answer: The yearbook is published as an 8.5" x 11" book. It is a spiral-bound (wire) book with a protective plastic cover.

Question: Is the yearbook in color?

Answer: YES! The yearbook will be in full color just like The MINI Magazine.

Question: When is the deadline for turning in materials?

Answer: All materials are due to the publisher no later than Feb. 10th, 2008 - unless you have arranged a later date with Tania.

Question: How do I get a book?

Answer: Please be aware the yearbook is not part of a MINI Magazine subscription. However, subscribers to The MINI Magazine always receive notice of available discounts first, and have the option to order early and save some $$$. If you are not a subscriber, you may still purchase a book.

NOTE: Pre-paying your book before Nov. 1 gets you a discount. Also, ad pages that are pre-paid before Nov. 1 receive a discount. You are paying for the space only; final materials are due by Jan 1 (with certain exceptions).

Question: What things are appropriate to put in the yearbook?

Answer: Anything that impacts the breed as a whole, is a personal achievement mark for dog or owner/breeder, or any celebration, memorial or honorary event of a club or rescue. Other items we would like to include are:

  • New champions (any event)
  • New performance titles
  • Best Puppy or Best Bred-by, Best Brace
  • Top Producers
  • Veteran accomplishments
  • Sweepstakes wins (Best in Sweeps, Best of Opposite in Sweeps)
  • Tracking/Earth dog titles
  • Therapy and service dog awards
  • Honorariums for people or dogs
  • Memorials for people or dogs
  • Anniversaries of special events

Please note that all of the above are PURCHASED PAGES.

Question: What is the cost of advertising in the yearbook?

Answer: Because we want as many people as possible to be part of the 2007 yearbook, we have special ad rates: PRIOR TO NOV. 1ST:
  • Full page = $60
  • Half page = $35
  • 1/4 page = $20
  • Business card = $15

AFTER NOV. 1ST:

  • Full page = $70
  • Half page = $35
  • 1/4 page = $20
  • Business card = $15

****Clubs and rescues ALWAYS get 2 half-pages or 1-full page at the half-page rate ($35) to use as you see fit.

Question: Is there an "early bird discount" on the yearbook itself?

Answer: YES! Order before November 1 and pay only $40. I will pay your postage. After Nov. 1, the price for the book goes up to $45 + your postage.

Question: How do I submit copy and photos for the yearbook?

Answer: If possible and time permits, the best submission is a real photo by snail mail which I will scan and return to you ASAP. However, it is not always possible to send the actual original photo. In these cases, you should scan the photo at high resolution [ at least 300 dpi] and e-mail it to me at the earliest possible date. If there are problems, we will have time to repeat the send. Photos should be submitted in .jpg or .tif format only.

Text submissions should be clearly printed or typed directly on a sketch of the page layout as you would like it. This may be submitted by e-mail in a MS Word or MS Publisher file. We are not responsible for textual errors due to handwriting that is difficult to read, or spelling errors made by the submitter.

There is no extra charge if we set up your ad for you. You provide text and photos - we will plan the layout.

Question: Where do I snail-mail my materials?

Answer: Send your materials to:

Tania Kidd, Publisher
The MINI Magazine
42-335 Washington #F229
Palm Desert, CA 92211

Question: When will the yearbook be published?

Answer: Late February to Mid-March - depending on receipt of statistics from AKC.

Question: May individuals and clubs from other countries participate?

Answer: YES! We encourage everyone to participate. This is not a yearbook for United States MS owners only! It is for ANY owner of a MS! In 2005 & 2006, we had a number of pages from other countries including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Holland, Mexico, Romania, South Africa, and the UK.

Question: What is the accepted payment method?

Answer: Most people find that PayPal is the easiest method of payment. Simply use the "Send Money" option on the PayPal home page for your account. The account you will send to is minimageditor@aol.com

However, there are also a number of people who prefer to send a personal check (American banks only) which is also acceptable. Please mail the check to the same address listed above.

International orders may send a money order on a U.S. bank, or use PayPal.

If you are a club or rescue (or anyone else) who would like to receive an invoice for the price of your page/s, just let me know.
